The Russian Pension Fund and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Communication and Mass Media have launched a service on the public services portal that enables women to apply for monthly pregnancy and childbirth benefits. Women registered as non-working by employment centers within a year since the date of dismissal are entitled to the benefits. The dismissal needs to be caused by company liquidation or termination of the activity as an individual entrepreneur, a notary or a lawyer.
Benefit applicants need to visit the public services portal, choose the Pregnancy and Childbirth Benefit for Dismissed Women, and confirm their personal data. They will also need to choose the benefit payment method and submit the application online.
That would be enough for assigning the benefit in most cases. However, additional information may sometimes be required. For instance, the birth certificate may have to be presented if it is issued outside of Russia, or there is a court order on adoption, which is issued to the adoptive parents only. In such cases, the mother’s account will receive a notification as to what information should be provided to the Pension Fund client service.
A decision on the assignment of the benefit is made within ten working days since the day of the submission of the application and the provision of necessary information and documents of the applicant to the Pension Fund. A denial to assign the benefit is conveyed to the applicant within three working days. The money is paid within five working days if the benefit is assigned.
Please note that the benefit application can be filed no later than six months since the end of the pregnancy and childbirth leave. If the benefit is assigned, the money is transferred to the bankcard or a postal office depending on the chosen delivery method.
