Rostelecom and the Russian Pension Fund have prepared a new training module for the expanded course of the Internet ABC program, Smart Phone Fundamentals. The course will be useful to elderly people who have learned how to use a computer on a basic level and seek new knowledge.
Pensioners will be introduced to the specifics of using smart phones, mobile applications and built-in programs. Emphasis will be put on the step-by-step instructions on how to use applications of the Pension Fund, the public services portal, email services and mobile operators.
Students can broaden their knowledge of social networks and messengers, ways of storing photo and video files and paying for goods and services via a smart phone. Pensioners will again be reminded about precautions to be taken during payments via mobile applications. The training course will teach them how to use navigators, and taxi and transport monitoring applications.
The Internet ABC portal contains the online edition of the course textbooks and the full package of materials, including all modules of the expanded course, which can help senior citizens acquire new knowledge. The website also contains guidelines for teachers and teaching aids for every lesson.
Internet ABC is a charity project of Rostelecom and the Russian Pension Fund. The textbook and the same-name web portal were developed under the agreement signed by both entities in 2015 to teach computer skills to pensioners. Cooperation aims to facilitate the access of pensioners to online public services and to improve the quality of their life through computer skills and use of the Internet.
