The second all-Russia Pensioner Spartakiad dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 has come to an end. More than 20,000 pensioners from 59 Russian regions and six countries (Belarus, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Slovenia and Finland) participated in the finals in Saratov on June 10-12. The Spartakiad was organized by the Russian Pensioners’ Union, and the Pension Fund of Russia was its co-organizer.
Russian pensioners competed in six events: 50 m swimming, chess, shooting, table tennis, medley relay and track (400 meters for men and 200 meters for women). Profession and sport experience did not matter. The age was limited only by the retirement qualifications in the Russian Federation: 60 years and older for men and 55 years and older for women. The main criteria were regular training and physical fitness.
Pensioners of the Perm territory won team gold in the all-Russia Spartakiad, the St. Petersburg team won silver, and the Samara region won bronze.
